About EastWest manuals on Manuals.plus
EastWest (also known as EastWest Sounds) has been dedicated to perpetual innovation and uncompromising quality in the audio industry for over 30 years. Founded by Doug Rogers, the company is the recipient of numerous recording industry awards and is recognized as a premier producer of Sample CDs and Virtual Instruments (VST). Their extensive catalog includes industry-standard collections such as the Hollywood Orchestra, Symphonic Choirs, Stormdrum, and voices produced by Quantum Leap.
EastWest's products are powered by their proprietary software engines, including the revolutionary Opus engine, which offers faster performance and individual instrument downloads, and the legacy Play engine. These tools allow musicians to compose complex orchestrations and realistic soundtracks directly within their Digital Audio Workstations (DAW). The company is headquartered at the legendary EastWest Studios in Hollywood, California.

What is the Opus Software Engine?
Opus is EastWest's modern software engine that replaces the older Play engine. It supports most EastWest Libraries (excluding the original Hollywood Orchestra and MIDI Guitar Series) and offers features like individual instrument downloads, faster load times, and customized key-switches.
-
Can I use Opus and Play engines simultaneously?
Yes. Opus and Play are separate software products. Old projects saved with Play will load the Play plugin, while new projects can use Opus. You can also update existing projects to Opus if desired.
-
Where can I download the EastWest Installation Center?
The Installation Center can be downloaded from the 'Software & Product Updates' section of the Support Center on the EastWest (Soundsonline) webwebwerf.
-
How do I activate my EastWest library license?
Open the EastWest Installation Center, click the 'Activate' button, and follow the Activation Assistant to link your license to your computer or an iLok security key.
-
Do EastWest Libraries come with user manuals?
Yes. All EastWest Libraries include their own specific user manuals describing instruments and controls. There are also general manuals for the Opus and Play software engines available on the support site.
