4. Opstelling en installering
4.1. Battery Installation (CS1 & HR1)
- Open the battery compartment by turning the rotary switch on the back cover counterclockwise from the locked position to the unlocked position.
- Remove the transparent plastic insulating gasket (if present) from the battery.
- Ensure the CR2032 battery is inserted with the positive pole ("+") facing upwards. The positive pole has text markings, while the negative pole has small dots.
- After the battery is correctly installed, fully press the battery cover and turn it clockwise to align the indicator to the locked position.
Note: Reinstalling the battery is also how you switch the function mode for the CS1 sensor.
4.2. BLACKBIRD CS1 Sensor Installation
The CS1 sensor can be installed as either a speed sensor or a cadence sensor. The mode is determined by the sensor's orientation and indicated by the LED light.
- Speed Mode (Green Light):
- Ensure the indicator light flashes green. If not, reinstall the battery to switch to speed mode.
- Install the sensor on the front wheel hub using the provided silicone pad and rubber ring.
- Wake up the sensor by spinning the wheel.
- Cadence Mode (Red Light):
- Ensure the indicator light flashes red. If not, reinstall the battery to switch to cadence mode.
- Install the flat silicone gasket on the bottom of the sensor.
- Attach the sensor to the inside of the crank using a rubber ring.
- Wake up the sensor by rotating the crank.

4.3. BLACKBIRD HR1 Heart Rate Belt Installation
- Attach the HR1 sensor module to the adjustable chest strap.
- Moisten the electrode areas on the back of the strap with water or electrode gel for better contact.
- Position the chest strap around your chest, just below your pectoral muscles, ensuring the sensor module is centered.
- Adjust the strap for a snug, comfortable fit.

5. Operasie
5.1. Power On/Off and Wake Up
- The devices do not have a manual power button. They automatically power on when motion is detected.
- To wake up the CS1 sensor, spin the wheel (for speed mode) or rotate the crank (for cadence mode).
- To wake up the HR1 heart rate belt, wear it correctly on your chest.
- Both devices feature an intelligent sleep mode and will automatically enter sleep after 90 seconds of static inactivity.

5.2. Connecting to Devices (ANT+ & BLE5.0)
Both the CS1 sensor and HR1 heart rate belt support dual ANT+ and BLE5.0 protocols, allowing connection to a wide range of cycling computers, smartwatches, and mobile applications.
- Ensure the sensor is awake (see 5.1). The indicator light will flash when ready to connect.
- On your cycling computer, smartwatch, or mobile app, navigate to the sensor pairing or add device menu.
- Select the BLACKBIRD sensor from the list of available devices.
- Once connected, the indicator light on the sensor may change or stop flashing, depending on the model.

Important Note for CS1: When the CS1 sensor is working, it can only run in one mode (either speed or cadence). If you require both speed and cadence data simultaneously, it is recommended to use two separate CS1 sensors, one configured for speed and one for cadence.
6. Onderhoud
6.1. Skoonmaak
- Sensors (CS1 & HR1 Module): Vee af met 'n sagte, damp lap. Moenie skuur skoonmaakmiddels of oplosmiddels gebruik nie.
- HR1 Chest Strap: The chest strap can be hand-washed with mild soap and water. Rinse thoroughly and hang to dry. Do not machine wash or tumble dry.
6.2. Battery vervanging
When the battery is low, the sensor's performance may degrade, or it may stop transmitting data. Replace the CR2032 battery as described in Section 4.1.
For CS1, remember that replacing the battery also serves as the method to switch between speed and cadence modes.
6.3. Berging
Store the sensors in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. If storing for an extended period, it is advisable to remove the battery to prevent leakage.

7. Probleemoplossing
| Probleem | Moontlike oorsaak | Oplossing |
|---|---|---|
| Sensor not detected by device |
|
|
| Inaccurate data readings |
|
|
| CS1 stuck in one mode | Mode not successfully switched. | Reinstall the battery carefully, ensuring the desired mode's light flashes upon reinsertion. |
