4. Opstelling en installering

Follow these steps carefully for proper installation. It is recommended to have basic plumbing knowledge or consult a professional.

4.1 Voor-installasie tjeks

  • Choose a suitable under-sink location with access to a cold water line, a drain, and an electrical outlet.
  • Ensure there is enough space for the main unit, storage tank, and filter changes. Refer to dimensions: 36 x 20 x 44 cm (main unit).
  • Skakel die hoofwatertoevoer na die installasiearea af.

4.2 Installing the RO Membrane

The RO membrane is typically packaged separately and needs to be installed into its housing.

  1. Unscrew the cap of the RO membrane housing (usually the horizontal cylinder on top of the main unit).
  2. Carefully insert the RO membrane into the housing, ensuring the end with the two O-rings goes in first.
  3. Screw the cap back on securely by hand, then tighten slightly with the provided wrench.

4.3 Aansluiting op watertoevoer

  1. Locate the cold water supply line under your sink.
  2. Install the water supply adapter (T-valve) between the cold water shut-off valve and the faucet supply line. Ensure a tight, leak-free connection.
  3. Connect one end of the designated inlet tubing (usually blue or white) to the water supply adapter and the other end to the "IN" port of the RO system.

4.4 Installing the Drain Saddle

  1. Choose a location on the drain pipe above the P-trap.
  2. Drill a 1/4-inch hole through one side of the drain pipe.
  3. Attach the drain saddle valve over the drilled hole, ensuring a secure and leak-free fit.
  4. Connect the designated drain tubing (usually black) from the RO system's "DRAIN" port to the drain saddle valve.

4.5 Installing the Faucet

  1. Drill a 1/2-inch hole in your sink or countertop at the desired faucet location.
  2. Insert the faucet stem through the hole and secure it from underneath with the provided washers and nut.
  3. Connect the designated purified water tubing (usually yellow or white) from the RO system's "OUT" port to the faucet's inlet.

4.6 Connecting the Storage Tank

  1. Wrap the threaded nipple of the storage tank with Teflon tape.
  2. Screw the tank shut-off valve onto the tank nipple.
  3. Connect the designated tubing from the RO system's post-filter outlet to the tank shut-off valve.

4.7 Final Connections and Leak Check

  • Ensure all tubing connections are secure. Push-fit connectors require the tubing to be fully inserted.
  • Skakel die hoofwatertoevoer stadig aan.
  • Check all connections for leaks. Tighten any leaking connections.
  • Steek die kragadapter in 'n elektriese aansluiting.

5. Bedryfsinstruksies

5.1 Aanvanklike stelselspoeling

Before consuming water, the system must be flushed to remove carbon fines and air from the filters.

  1. Close the tank shut-off valve.
  2. Open the dispensing faucet.
  3. Allow water to flow from the faucet for 10-15 minutes, or until the water runs clear. This flushes the pre-filters.
  4. Close the dispensing faucet and open the tank shut-off valve.
  5. Allow the storage tank to fill completely (this may take 2-4 hours).
  6. Once the tank is full, open the dispensing faucet and drain the entire tank. This flushes the RO membrane and post-filter.
  7. Repeat steps 5 and 6 at least two more times. The first few tanks of water should not be consumed.

5.2 Normale werking

After the initial flush, the system is ready for use. When you open the dispensing faucet, purified water will flow from the storage tank. As water is drawn, the system will automatically activate to refill the tank.

5.3 Control Panel and Monitoring

The system features a control panel with a digital display and indicator lights to monitor system status.

Figure 7: The system's control panel displaying TDS levels and operational status indicators.

  • TDS-skerm: Shows the Total Dissolved Solids (PPM) of the purified water, indicating water quality.
  • Werksaanwyser: Lights up when the system is actively producing water.
  • Flush Indicator: Lights up during the automatic flushing cycle.
  • Volledige aanwyser: Lights up when the storage tank is full.
  • Lack Indicator: May indicate low inlet water pressure or a system fault.
  • Kontroleer aanwyser: May indicate a need for maintenance or filter replacement.
  • Demp-knoppie: Used to silence audible alerts.

The system performs an automatic flush cycle periodically to clean the RO membrane and extend its lifespan.

6. Onderhoud

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and water quality. Always turn off the water supply and unplug the system before performing maintenance.
